The history of the Trafalgar Square begins in the 14th century. From this time until the 17th century, the space was used as a courtyard for the Great Mews. Not long after, the Great Mews was no longer in use. It was then that concepts began flowing for a new use of the space. The Trafalgar Square was developed by John Nash, a well-known London architect. He believed the space would be best used as an area open to the public.
